Metal Storm Magazine

Don’t be fooled by the nice tasty ass on the cover of the Cd, this Is real music, I’m not starting to review my porn collection, although if you ask so I could upload some of my sexy titles on certain FTP server.
You don’t have to be a rocket scientist or a musical genius to know that there’s not much Doom Metal involved in this album, so if you bought, downloaded or borrowed this album thinking that you’ll get the first album of Porn Doom Metal, you got it all wrong pal.
To alleviate everybody’s curiosity, Doomfoxx plays sleazy Hard Rock with a lot of attitude. The sound of Doomfoxx is groovy and has a lot of catchy melodies, the attitude is very eighties and "dirty-street" if you know what I’m mean. According to their bio, the band is composed by a whisky-roached Scottish singer, a former member of the Great Moscow Circus, a part-time gigolo, a young upstart and an Australian Rock legend.
I’ll put it simple for all of you, if you like Hard Rock, you’ll probably like this album, no cheese, no spandex, no sissy lyrics, no hairspray, probably these guys would punch in the face any member of Stryper or Dokken in any case.
Almost all songs are great, but there’s definitively some that stand up from the rest like "Piece Of Me", "Look Ma No Hands", "My Beautiful Friends", "Drugs" and "Sweetheart Of The Troops". One of the best assets of the band is the raspy vocals of Stuart Mckie, he reminds me of the deceased Bon Scott from AC/DC at times.
This album is groovy and real fun to listen to, it makes you want to grab a beer , invite some friends over and have a nice party (the sluts and drugs are optional depending on your tastes). Anyone in the mood for some good ‘Ol Rock N’ Roll should grab this immediately. Ah, by the way, you’re all invited to my house tonight.

Stuart McKie

Stuart McKie

Stu McKieStuart McKie, born in Kilmarnock, Scotland, emigrated to Perth, Western Australia at a young age, but holds his Scottish roots close to his heart. Singing in pubs and clubs, he was belting out tunes by the Faces and the Rolling Stones, his passion and power is undeniable, now with a reputation as one of the best front-men in the business.

Stuart hooked up with drummer Jase Burec in Sydney forming Circle and with ex-pat Sydney muso Dave Thomas in New York started another musical collaboration along with Burec creating the nucleus of Doomfoxx. Ask Stuart what Doomfoxx is like? With a cheeky smile he'll say, "It's like Formula One racing in the dark".

Dave Thomas

Dave Thomas

DaveDave Thomas, one of the twin-towers of rock, had been playing in several local bands before deciding to try his luck overseas and he met McKie in New York club named Scrap Bar.

An immediate bond was formed and Dave, originally from Brooklyn, not the New York borough, but a haven an hour north of Sydney on the Hawkesbury river estuary, was exposed to 60s soul music and rock ‘n’ roll and at 6’4’’ holds an impressive stature and plays a damn-fine Gretsch White Falcon, when not riffing away on a custom Les Paul.

Woody Greenwood

Woody Greenwood

WoodieThe newest member of this rocking quintet, Woody became aware that Doomfoxx were looking for new guitarist and made contact via Doomfoxx’s My Space site. An audition soon followed and when Woody walked into the rehearsal room and started playing the songs note perfect, the boys knew instinctively they had their man.

Woody had been playing with the Volts, an inner Sydney band and was well aware of Doomfoxx “I was a fan of the band” he said, “So it is an amazing opportunity to be part of it now”. Part of it he is and Woody wails away on his Firebird creating the twin guitar attack with Dave Thomas.

Archi Read

Archi Read

Archi Read Archi, from Sydney’s North Shore only picked up a bass guitar in his late teens and with some school friends he formed the glam rock band Hell City Glamours and quickly developed a solid live following and was soon the most talked about bass player around town.

The second half of the twin-towers of rock, Archi’s stature, both physical and musical is not to be denied. With Burec he completes what is a formidable rhythm section and his full-on attack and energetic live performance is testament to his passion and belief in what he does.

Jase Burec

Jase Burec

Jase BurecThe engine room controller, Jase hails from the outer suburbs of Sydney and all he wanted to do since he was 9 years old is play drums in a rock ‘n’ roll band. Quietly spoken, with a charming smile, it’s the thunder on the stage that defines Jase and sets up the driving platform for Doomfoxx.

Forming Circle with McKie, the close bond between the two, like brothers, is easily recognised and while the flamboyance of front-man McKie captures the eye, it’s the solid rock beat of Burec and his undeniable commitment to his craft that secures his status.
